December 2010

At the time, this was the third-best month of my life (after June 2009 and July 2005).

In the UK, this was officially the coldest December since 1890, and the second-coldest since records began in 1659 (although it was not the coldest month in general, as some Januaries and Februaries have been colder, for example January 1963 and the Little Ice Age).

It was also the snowiest month in my life (so far), just beating February 1995 (although, mostly, this made it feel super magical because it was leading up to Christmas) (snowy Decembers are extra-awesome).

Officially, 2010 was considered to be a cold year in the UK on average, the coldest year since 1986, despite it being during the intense global warming period and surrounded by hot years. Globally, however, it was actually one of the hottest on record at the time. Only time will tell if climate change causes even greater perturbations in the future.
