Most of the month was under Tier 5 lockdown, but it was the best month of 2020. Also, this month broke the records for driest month in England (causing lots of plants to dry up) as well as the most hours of sunshine in the UK, of any month.
Note: that is totally different from driest month in the UK (September 2014 perhaps) and most hours of sunshine in England (July 1911). UK-wide, both April and May 2020 received very low rainfall (a bit less than April 2017, but still significantly more than September 2014), so it probably seemed like May was drier due to having two dry months in a row.
